Working in the creative industry part D

I enrolled to take part in a day activity at the Tyneside Cinema film studios, which involved taking part in a collaborative group filming task.  We worked as team to produce a short trailer for a sci-fi film.  I developed communication and teamwork skills as my group were assigned job roles and had to work productively as a group.  I personally took the role of prop creator and was responsible for designing the props that would then be used in specific scenes to help enhance the story telling. I valued this day  highly as I got to network and meet three of the Tyneside cinema staff who supported my group through the process.  They helped us understand and follow how to work the equipment and follow correct production procedures.  I was able to introduce myself and find ot a little about their roles.  Also it was fantastic to learn about the cinema, and the types of facilities it offers to aspiring media professionals beyond just showing  films.

Furthermore, I was lucky enough to be able to receive work experience at a local infant school, which allowed me to design and create their news letter which they would send out to families. This valuable experience allowed me to collaborate with the staff as well as the students and we all worked as a team to pull all of the resources together. I personally took on the role of developing the page layouts and deciding what information or images would go on each page which helped enhance my  communication and teamwork skills as the rest of the team would help gain material for the news letter depending on what was appropriate, this allowed us  to work productively as a group. The time I had on my work experience was valued highly as I was able to get a feel to what a job would be like as a Digital Marketer whilst also being able to express the enjoyment designing brings.

In addition, i enrolled to take part in a day activity at the Stadium of Light, which involved taking part in a collaborative group filming task.  We worked as team to produce a short trailer to show off the events that was taking place that day.  I developed communication and teamwork skills, working in a fast pace environment and team leading, as my group were assigned job roles and had to work effectively as a group.  I personally took the role of camera operator and was responsible for filming the footage that would then be edited together in trailer form.  The day was extremely significant as I got to network and meet three of the Staff who supported my group through the process and helped us.  I got to introduce myself and explain how certain equipment works and what scenarios they could be used. This overall helped be gain a understanding and a feel of what being a camera man is like and how to interact with people effectively.

Furthermore, I participated in a month project with Creative Seed. which involved taking part in a collaborative group filming task.  We worked as team to produce a short trailer for the Halloween event that took place. I developed my time efficiency, leadership and teamwork skills as my group were assigned job roles and had to work productively as a group.  I personally took the role of editor and was responsible for gathering all the footage and editing them together correctly and fluently whilst also being in a trailer form.  The project was very valuable as I got to understand what it means to edit as well as having effective communication between your group/team to ensure the final product is the best it can be.

Also, I enrolled to take part in a day activity at the Sunderland University, which involved taking part in a team working environment .  We worked as team to produce a segment of a news broadcast.  I developed communication, timing and teamwork skills as my group were assigned job roles and had to work efficiently and fluently as a group.  I personally took the role of  camera operator and was responsible for changing the camera positions during live tv to ensure the footage that was recorded will keep the audience engaged.  The day was very valuable as I got to network and meet three of the Sunderland University staff who supported my group through the process.  They helped us understand how to work/control the equipment and follow correct production procedures.  It was also amazing to learn about television and the types of facilities it offers to aspiring media professionals.

Furthermore, I was lucky enough to be able to receive work experience at a boxing club, which allowed me to design and create three types of social media for them, which consisted of an Instagram page, Website and a promotional video. This valuable experience allowed me to collaborate with the company as well as some of the students in my class and we worked as a team to pull all of the resources together. I personally took on the role of developing and designing the Instagram page, creating the website and capturing and creating the promotional video. Doing this helped enhance my leadership, teamwork, communication, listening and determination. The people in my team helped me gain certain footage by creating scenarios or simply moving objects and this allowed us  to work productively as a group. The time I had on my work experience was valued highly as I was able to get a feel to what a job would be like as a Digital Marketer whilst also being able to express the enjoyment designing brings

Finally I used a website called blogger which is my digital presence and displays my work progress over the years. Blogger allows me to organise my work by using “tags” to place certain pieces of work in the same place so it is easier to locate. Al of my work over the two years I have been at college has been uploaded onto blogger to allow access at all time no matter where I am and it is also easy to locate pieces of work. Using blogger has taught me how to be organised and create a piece of writing professionally to continuously ensure my blogger looks neat and professional.

I have a second blogger account which contains all of my resources for my showreel. My showreel consists of all of my project and design work I have done which I can show employers to show what I am capable of and the amount of potential I have. The difference between this account and my other blogger account is this one only contains my projects whilst the other blogger account consists of my projects and a mixture of different assignments. The overall purpose of the second account is to display all of my work in a more organised fashion.
