This is a storyboard and the purpose of creating a storyboard is because it allows the director and the crew to visualize the shots ad the scenes that will take place and how they want to capture them. For example they will plan out the shots they want to take in a scene and how they want it to look to ensure they are not wasting time on location thinking about how to capture the shots and wasting time which will cost the production company a lot more money for the longer they spend on location.
